GRUDGE MATCH Synopsis:

Two retired boxers (Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro) decide to settle a long-standing beef by heading back into the ring in this sports comedy from director Peter Segal. Back in the day, Billy “The Kid” McDonnen (De Niro) and Henry “Razor” Sharp (Stallone) were the two biggest bruisers in the Pittsburgh boxing scene. Their fierce rivalry drawing nationwide attention, Razor and The Kid were deadlocked for the title of overall champion when the former announced his retirement just before the decisive 1983 match that would have determined the supreme champion. Three decades later, enterprising boxing promoter Dante Slate Jr. (Kevin Hart) lures the aging pugilists back into the ring for the fight that everyone has been waiting for. Meanwhile, when Razor and The Kid see each other for the first time in 30 years, the cameras are rolling as tempers suddenly flare. In no time that unscheduled scuffle goes viral, prompting both fighters to resume their intensive training in a bid to be the one who delivers the knockout blow during the highly anticipated bout. Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Jon Bernthal also costar.

I can’t believe I live in the ATL (less than 7 miles from the Fox Theatre) and didn’t go to the SoSo Def 20 year Anniversary Concert. This Liquid Soul Media/Wallmart Sponsored event was quite interesting.

2012 ‘Soul Train’ Nominees: R. Kelly Makes ‘Soul Train’ History As The Most Nominated Artist

R. Kelly the musical genius has done it AGAIN!!!!!! According to our friends at the Huffington Post 

R. Kelly is nominated for two awards at this year’s Soul Train Awards, making him the most nominated act ever at the awards show.

Kelly is up for the Ashford & Simpson songwriter’s award and album of the year, bringing his career total to 21 nominations.

Usher leads this year’s awards with five nominations. Estelle, Nas, Trey Songz and John Legend are also multiple nominees.

Whitney Houston is nominated for best gospel inspirational performance and Amy Winehouse is nominated for best international performance. New Edition will receive a lifetime achievement award.

The Soul Train Awards, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, will be taped Nov. 8 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The show will air Nov. 25 on BET and Centric.

Arrested Development arrived in the early 90s as a fresh alternative to much of the gangsta rap that was on the radio at the time. Led by members Speech and Headliner and with vocalist Dionne Farris in tow, the group made an immediate impression with the album 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of… and the hits “Tennessee” and “People Everyday.”

The group has disbanded and reunited several times, but from the beginning has established for itself a permanent place in music history. And that history is given the “Unsung” treatment on the upcoming episode of the TV One series. Check it out Monday night and come back on Tuesday when we’ll have the full episode for your viewing pleasure.
