This summer, original ‘Effie,’ Jennifer Holliday will return to DREAMGIRLS, playing the role at the MUNY in St. Louis. According the the MUNY’s official website, Demetria McKinney to play the role as Deena, Milton Craig Nealy will star as Jimmy, Jenelle Lynn Randall as Lorrell, Muny veteran Ken Page as Marty, Christopher Jackson as Curtis, Karla Mosely as Michelle, and Tommar Wilsonas C.C.

DREAMGIRLS opened on December 20, 1981 at the Imperial Theatre. The show was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical, winning six. It was later adapted into a motion picture from DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures in 2006, starring Hudson, Beyonce, Anika Noni Rose, Eddie Murphy and more.

Dreamgirls features a blockbuster score and the landmark song “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” with book and lyrics by Tom Eyen, and music by Henry Krieger.

THE RICKEY SMILEY MORNING SHOW has signed a brand new deal with RADIO ONE, and simultaneously announced big TV news, being picked up by FOX TV’s DISH NATION and partnering with TV ONE to develop a new sitcom for the network.

SMILEY and veteran TV producer/director ROGER BOBB have teamed up to create, THE RICKEY SMILEY SHOW, currently in production in ATLANTA. It will debut this FALL on TV ONE as a weekly sitcom.
