Reuben Cannon Attends Private Screening of “Steel Magnolias” Remake Directed by Kenny Leon

Reuben Cannon/Mrs Cannon/ Kenny Leon-Director

Make sure you tune in to the Steel Magnolias Remake to air on Sunday on the Lifetime Movie Network at 9pm. This star studded all black cast directed by Kenny Leon who allowed some newcomers to the Big Screen (but definitely not to the stage or the world of theater or acting world) to be introduced in a new light with a phenomenal group of women. Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott ,Adepero Oduye and Condola Rashad were absolutely hilarious, delightful, will bring you to tears and make you laugh (at the same d$#@ time) in my Future voice. Lance Gross yes! You were an amazingly beautiful bartender as well;-0

Dr Julius Irving, played the pastor. According to The Detroit News “Entertainment TV

Dr Julius Irving and his family and guests (His Daughter played the flower girl in the film) PINK DRESS. The male characters are nearly nonentities. Nothing blows up. No one gets naked. There’s not a single car chase. Even the appearance of basketball great Julius Erving in the small role of a local minister can’t offset all the estrogen.

Ofemo Omilami (son-in-law of civil rights activist Hosea Williams) Kenny Leon Director and John Grant “President of 100 Black Men Atlanta Org)

Ofemo plays husband to Queen Latifah. He has been perfecting his acting skills for over 22 years. He has shared the spotlight with Queen Latifah in the past in (Momma Flora’s Boys) and with Alfre Woodard as well. In one of his past films with Queen Latifah he played the role of a young man trying to become her boyfriend. Ofemo joked in the panel discussion about “stating in this film he and the Queen finally tied the knot)” Nevertheless, Ofemo displayed an excellent performance and I know big things will follow from the release of this project. I don’t know how Elisabeth Omilami (daughter of Hosea Williams) see picture below.(will feel about the new wife of him in the film) but I do know she should be very proud of him.

Actress/Director Jasmine Guy was there to support her friend Kenny Leon
